Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy
Qubahan Engineering Journal (QENGJ) recognizes long-term digital preservation as an essential responsibility of scholarly publishing.
The journal aims to ensure that published articles, metadata, supplementary materials, and essential publication records remain accessible, identifiable, and recoverable over time.
Electronic Backups
QENGJ maintains regular electronic backups of essential publishing content and records, including where applicable:
-
Published articles;
-
Article metadata;
-
Journal issues;
-
Supplementary files;
-
Editorial records;
-
Website content; and
-
Publication-related administrative data.
Backups should be maintained separately from the primary publishing environment where technically feasible.
Long-Term Preservation
QENGJ seeks to protect published scholarly content against:
-
Hardware failure;
-
Software failure;
-
Website interruption;
-
Data loss;
-
Cybersecurity incidents;
-
Publisher transition;
-
Platform migration; and
-
Permanent cessation of journal operations.
External Preservation Services
QENGJ will publicly identify an external digital preservation service only when participation has been formally activated and can be independently verified.
Verified preservation service:
[INSERT VERIFIED DIGITAL PRESERVATION SERVICE]
The journal will not claim participation in services such as:
-
LOCKSS;
-
CLOCKSS;
-
PKP Preservation Network;
-
Portico; or
-
Other preservation networks
unless enrollment or participation has actually been completed and verified.
Persistent Identification
Published articles should receive stable bibliographic information and persistent identifiers, such as DOI numbers, where provided by the journal.
Persistent identifiers support:
-
Long-term discovery;
-
Reliable citation;
-
Cross-linking;
-
Metadata exchange; and
-
Preservation of the scholarly record.
Preservation of Published Versions
Published articles should remain permanently identifiable.
Where corrections, retractions, or Expressions of Concern are issued, the relevant notices should remain permanently linked to the original publication record.
The journal should not silently replace, alter, or remove published scholarly content.
Platform Migration
If QENGJ changes its publishing platform or website infrastructure, reasonable measures should be taken to preserve:
-
Article files;
-
Metadata;
-
DOI links;
-
Issue structure;
-
Publication dates;
-
Archival records; and
-
Existing scholarly links.
Journal Discontinuation
If QENGJ permanently ceases publication, reasonable measures should be taken to preserve access to previously published content through:
-
An established preservation service;
-
Institutional repositories;
-
Publisher archives;
-
Scholarly repositories; or
-
Other appropriate long-term preservation mechanisms.
Transparency
The journal's Archiving and Digital Preservation page should be updated whenever its preservation arrangements materially change.
QENGJ will publish only accurate and verifiable information regarding external preservation services.
